HUP AG: Mr. Kadow, how will the HOLM idea develop in the course of the digital transformation in the coming years?
Michael Kadow: We are convinced that the relevance of networks and the added value they offer will continue to increase in the course of the digital transformation. The moderated exchange among each other and the organized meeting with leading minds from science and research is of great importance for the growing number and especially for the many new industry players. HOLM can thus consolidate and expand its position as a hotspot for logistics and mobility.
From the World Café to the innovation marketplace. HOLM is a place where the network is supported. How do medium-sized companies benefit that do not have jobs at HOLM and/or do not have the resources of the large sponsors?
The House of Logistics and Mobility is an open network. In this way we can guarantee the integration of players of all kinds from the fields of logistics and mobility. Even medium-sized companies, SMEs and start-ups have the opportunity to be part of our network – even without their own office space at HOLM. This is made possible by the various partnerships that we offer to logistics and mobility players.
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight our cluster partnerships. They are particularly interesting for medium-sized companies in Hessen and offer enormous added value. The aim of our three cluster initiatives Hessen Aviation, Hessen Logistics and Hessen Mobility is to increase the visibility and competitiveness of the Hessian players and their exchange among each other. To this end, the clusters offer their members and partners many opportunities: to improve the networking of all players and at the same time to discuss current issues and challenges and find common positions.
Promoting innovation is certainly the topic of the future in order to push Frankfurt, but also Germany, as a business location. HOLM presents itself as a (self-)active forum, meeting place and centre for creativity. To what extent is this linked to the topics of logistics and mobility?
We are very closely tied to the megatopics of logistics and mobility. Our mission is to network science and research with companies in these sectors, to promote innovations for logistics and mobility and to let society participate in these developments. In doing so, however, we do not ignore interrelations and intersections with other challenges, for example in the field of energy. On the contrary, we view and discuss them holistically, but always with a focus on solutions for logistics and mobility.
What are the highlights of HOLM’s activities in autumn and 2020?
The time between the summer holidays and the Advent season is one of the event-intensive months. We started this high season with the Air Cargo Conference at the end of August and the HOLM innovation marketplace with World Café at the beginning of September.
Among the highlights you can still expect from us in 2019 is the start-up day “Logistics, Mobility and Green Sauce” with a prototype safari on 15 and 16 October. After its premiere in 2018, HOLM will be the hotspot for start-ups and founders in logistics and mobility for the second time.
From 26 to 28 November, Hypermotion 2019 will be held at Messe Frankfurt. The third edition of the event will once again be an attractive mix of trade fair, tech talks and conferences. HOLM has a very active part there. On the one hand, we are once again organising a joint stand together with Hessen Trade & Invest to present Hessian players from the fields of logistics and mobility and to promote networking and exchange between the players. On the other hand, we will get involved in the programme and actively participate in panel discussions and debates.
The programme for 2020 is currently being prepared. As usual, there will be high-quality and innovative networking formats for Hessian, national and international players from logistics and mobility as well as attractive events for the transfer of knowledge to the general public. Thanks to our network, we can guarantee both thematic breadth and depth of content.
